Pilates with Caroline
I offer One-to-One sessions on Hornby Island, B.C. Allowing each appointment to be completely responsive to the state of your body on the day. Whether we are working together in your home, online via Zoom, or in a pilates studio with equipment - I strive to explore alignment, movement and breath as the foundations of correct movement and a healthy body, using the Pilates technique as well as exercises & techniques learned through my years as a dance artist, my personal yoga practice, and diverse professional development workshops (from myofascial release technique to pilates for breast cancer survivors, nutrition for atheletes to pilates for amputees, Qi Gong to Tai Chi, & more).
Pilates is an excellent practice for:
~ individuals with structural challenges such as Scoliosis, Arthritis, Amputation, Osteoporosis & many spinal and body joint conditions
~ Knee, Hip or Shoulder reconstruction & rehabilitation
~ the challenge of hyper-mobility
Pilates offers body awareness & eduction, stabilization & integration, strength building without impact, and safe range-of-motion exploration.
~ For individuals who have been struggling with chronic pain
Caroline uses Pilates as a framework for movement therapy & healing: re-establishing mind & body connection, working in partnership with you to transition out of the fear, anger & exhaustion of pain, towards a deeper comprehension of the state of your body, how it strives to communicate with you & how you can truly “partner” with your body to find the safety, functionality and well-being that we naturally crave.
Your initial appointment with Caroline will be an Assessment: a session dedicated to looking at your body as the inter-connected marvel that it is - whatever injury or issue you are dealing with, we start with how your feet stand on the ground & then work our way through the body alignment from there! You will be introduced to each piece of pilates equipment & experience how each one serves your rehabilitation process. Each following session will respond to the state of your body - consistently building correct functional movement & adding new challenges as your body is ready.
